Welcome - a word from our chairperson...
As we come to the end of the first year of the WIN Project, it has undoubtedly been a good beginning. We have been very fortunate in our appointments to the two part-time posts. Madge Dobbie, who is our family worker, comes with impressive experience in both the statutory and voluntary sectors. She is also a very compassionate person who really cares about people. Jules Manson, who is our creative arts worker, comes with a first class honours degree in community arts. She also has great energy and enthusiasm for all she is doing. Both Madge and Jules have caught the vision of the project to give enabling help to parents and children who are struggling with life issues.
Having a small but committed steering group has been important. Ann Robb (Head of Jimmy Dunnachie family Centre) gave great support especially in the early stages. Also my deaconess colleague, Mary Gargrave, has played a huge part in bringing the project into being. Mary did all the groundwork for the appreciative enquiry survey which identified both the need and the possible remedy. All the early indications are that that this innovative twin approach is very helpful. Mary has also diligently and carefully filled out the vast majority of the funding applications.
This leads naturally to expressing thanks to our funders: Go for it (Church of Scotland), Robertson Trust, GHA and Lloyds TSB. Without their support the project would not exist. Hopefully, with their continued support, the project will continue to make an increasing, enabling difference to parents and children as they benefit from stimulation and support.
